With God Nothing is Impossible!

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of the Lord Jesus Christ! I read a wonderful Scripture today that says, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1: 37). There are many situations in our lives and in the lives of people around us that might seem impossible. But not with the Lord, for with Him nothing is impossible!

A young man came to Jesus one day and said to Him, “Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?” This is something most people ask within themselves when they are thinking of where they will spend eternity. We tend to try to do more good things in life, help more people, etc. Although it is important, we cannot assure our place in heaven that way. Salvation is a gift that God gives every believer through the sacrifices the Lord Jesus made for us.

This young man seemed to have a sense of pride in his own abilities in life. He asked what good thing he could do to make heaven his home one day. But the Lord directed him to Scripture. Apparently, he kept the commandments since he was young. But he asked the Lord, “What lack I yet?” In other words, I am not satisfied, and I have a lack in my life. Did you ever feel that way? You have done everything right all your life but it’s still not enough? Jesus told him to sell what he has and give to the poor, for it will cause him to have treasure in heaven, “and come and follow Me.” Some folks understand the part of giving up things in this life to help others, but I think the real reason for his sorrow is when Jesus said, “Come and follow Me.” That is the tricky part for many people. That would require complete trust in the Lord leading us into the unknown future! Can we do it? I believe we can, for Paul said years later, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:
13).

This young man turned and walked away sorrowfully when he heard Jesus’ answer. This was a “teachable moment” for the Lord and His disciples. He gave His followers an example of how impossible it is for any human to make it into heaven without completely trusting the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation. He said, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” There has been many ideas of what exactly the Lord meant when He said this, but the picture is perfectly clear: with man it is impossible to make heaven our home on our own. Only those who have learned to trust the Lord Jesus completely for salvation can receive this wondrous gift!

The apostle John wrote, “He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1: 10-13). It is not a question of doing good things and being nice, but salvation is found when we recognize we need the Lord to not only forgive us of sins and mistakes: but we depend on Him to cleanse us and transform us into His image. I thank God our heavenly Father adopted me into His family many years ago! Because of Jesus, I belong to the family of God! I am a part of the wonderful body of Christ! I am free to fulfill the will of God now. My life has meaning.

To receive God’s offer of salvation is to receive life: life more abundantly! The Bible says He is not very far from every one of us, so if you don’t know Him, call on His name. He will hear you, save you, and lead you to new life in Christ Jesus! May God bless you always!

Sincerely,
Rev. Daniel Bossidy
