A blast from the past! From the devotional archives of Pastor Daniel Bossidy:

February 19, 2012 – Proverbs 31:26 (10-31) There is a law of kindness we must attain to. We are the Church, the Bride of Christ. He is choosing a virtuous bride from this world, one who has made herself ready for Him. The Bride has the inner qualities that attract the Lord’s attention. What is attractive to the Lord? He gave Israel the Torah, the law of Moses. The Torah is the teachings and principles God is looking for from His people. It was not intended to bind the people but to liberate the people from the bondages of the world. God expressed His righteousness through the 1st five books of the Bible. Today, people tend to distance themselves from these writings because they seem too restrictive. But Jesus did not come to destroy the Law, but to establish the righteousness found in the Law! The book of Romans chapter 8 verses 1 through 4 tells us we will live the law in one way or another. We have the opportunity to the live the Law of the Spirit of Life through Christ Jesus. Righteousness is not in the bondage of letters, and rules and regulations, but in the liberty to be led by the Spirit of God! We choose what we will serve. One is of the human nature, called the flesh, and the other is of God’s nature, called the Spirit of Life. Jesus instituted the Law of the Spirit of Life.
James chapter 3 verses 1 through 18 shows what God thinks of our actions and words. Our tongues, our words, the way we interact with people affects others either negatively or positively. In trying to bring people into the righteousness of God we have a choice. What kind of fountain is springing up in and through you? I have been given an office in the church of Jesus Christ, which is a great responsibility. But nowhere does it allow me to be a master or lord over your faith. There is still only one Lord Jesus Christ. He is Head of the Church. But I am to hold forth the standards of righteousness, the things that please God, so you can be blessed. The human nature says in its responsibility, “I must control this thing lest we lose all order and God become displeased.” This outlook holds a danger of falling into the condemnation of the devil, for he expresses his order through manipulation, intimidation and domination. Manipulation says, “I’ll trick you into doing things my way.” Domination says, “I’ll make you do things my way.” Intimidation says, “I’ll scare you into doing things my way.” (These quotes came from a book called “Exposing Witchcraft In The Church” by Rick Godwin)
James shows us our words are like a fountain. What springs from us comes from the spirit of a man set free from the power of sin, or the spirit of a man bound by sin. It does matter how we talk to others. James went so far as saying that the carnal tongue is full of poison! It is a fire, a world of iniquity, and it defiles the whole body. How I speak to others can liberate them to love and serve God, or poison them from serving God. What can I do to be sure the fountain that is springing from me is the fresh water of life found in Christ Jesus? I must be led by the Spirit of God, and full of the Spirit of God. I must study the word of God for myself to see what attracts the Lord to me. To be able to inspire people to love and serve the Lord is a gift from God. To motivate someone to renew their love for God is attractive to God. This is why He tells us, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” [Galatians 6:1] If only the people of God would make such a statement the Law of their lives! The Old Testament calls it the Law of Kindness. “She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” [Proverbs 31:26] If I am accused of preaching the Law, so be it. This Law should be the Law of every born again, Holy Ghost-filled Christian in this world. It will take you time to pray and seek the face of God to attain this Law. You will have to consider your ways and study the word of God to find out how to incorporate this into your life. It will separate you from the ways of the world; maybe even how you were brought up. I know this; it will cause you to get your mind off of yourself, and instead looking to build up your bother or sister, no matter what has transpired between you.
You may ask, “but what if a person does not receive the Lord and His teachings?” In Luke 9:51-56, John, the “Apostle of Love”, said “Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?” We like to think of ourselves as full of virtue, but this kind of power is not the will of God. “But He [Jesus] turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” This, however, is still the heart of God.
This brings us back to Proverbs 31:10 “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price [is] far above rubies.” [Proverbs 31:10] The word “find” here literally means, “to come forth to; to appear, exist, or attain to, get hold upon, the occasion to serve.” This whole sentence is written in the plural, so it is speaking more of an assembly of women, or rather, the Church. It is the Church the Lord is looking for. Will she come forth to him from her wilderness? Who or what is she leaning on? Are her spices and fragrances beautiful? Is she wearing peace on her feet? Is she a builder of faith, or a judge? What is she preparing for her household? Is she reaching forth her hands to the poor and needy? Has she clothed her household with scarlet, the blood of Christ? Is her husband known in the gates of Torrington? Is she looking well to the ways of her family circle? “Care” is the word she nourishes among the saints. Her gentleness makes her a great woman. A woman named Hannah brought graciousness into the church of her day in the book of I Samuel chapter 1, despite the spiritual blindness of the priest. Hannah’s song of thanksgiving was sung in I Samuel 2:1-10. Mary ushered in graciousness into the New Testament days in Luke 1:26-38. Mary’s song of praise, called the “Magnificat” is found in Luke 1:46-55. Both women were types of the Church to imitate in ages to come: one from the Old and the other from the New Testaments. These women were noted in the Bible for a reason. It is God’s desire to have such a wife as this. Today, the choice lays before us. Will we surrender our ways and wants in order to please the Lord Jesus, and become the people He desires to dwell with? Will we live peaceably and build each other up? “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37) May God bless you!
